What to Expect

Driving through the Guadalupe Mountains National Park allows you to explore dramatically different scenery just a few miles apart. Discover  the streams nurturing verdant trees and wildflowers inside of McKittrick Canyon, then see the moon-like landscape of the salt flats and dunes that give way to the drastic peaks of El Capitan and Guadalupe Peak.

From the Chihuahuan Desert to the hidden streams inside McKittrick Canyon, the Guadalupe Mountains are one of America’s hidden gems. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or a family looking for an accessible way to explore the Guadalupes, you’ll find adventure in this dramatic Texas landscape. And it’s all just 1-2 hours away from Carlsbad Caverns National Park, making it a perfect addition to your underground journey.
